Belgrade Archdiocese celebrates two anniversaries

BELGRADE - The Belgrade Archdiocese will celebrate next weekend the 100th anniversary of the Concordat between the former Kingdom of Serbia and the Holy See and the 90th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Belgrade Archdiocese.

Belgrade Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar has said that the celebrations will start at the archdiocese's oldest church, Church of Christ the King, on Saturday with an evening service held by Bishop of Pozega Antun Skvorcevic.

This will be followed by a ceremony hosted by Franciscan seminary students from Sarajevo, while the central event will be held at the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Holy Virgin Mary, hosted by Archbishop of Sarajevo, Cardinal Vinko Puljic and guests from Sarajevo, Hocevar stated.

"Thanks to Cardinal Puljic and the guests from Sarajevo, Belgrade and Sarajevo will embrace once again, to move past the heritage left from the past, among other things," he said.
