Economic caucus formed in Serbian parliament

BELGRADE - An economic caucus was established in the Serbian parliament on Thursday, with Social Democratic Party of Serbia MP Vladimir Marinkovic elected as its president.

After his election, Marinkovic said that the body's task is to work on amendments to laws related to the social and economic policy, as well as to work on the ground and pay visits to factories and businesspeople to discuss problems in order to create equal business conditions for everyone.

That work will not be lobbying work, he noted.

In the next ten days or so, the members of the Economic Caucus will discuss a unification of inspection services for the purpose of working together with the Serbian government on curbing the grey economy and establishing control of the work of market inspectorates and other inspectorates, Marinkovic also announced.

"The legal advisor of the US Congress' economic caucus could also pay a visit soon - the Congress is known for having more than 300 caucuses with decades of experience, and it can help us on many matters," Marinkovic said.

The president of the Economic Caucus also noted that former MPs will also be invited to cooperate with the body.

"We will send a notification and invitation to Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and the government. Everyone is welcome," Marinkovic said.
