President Iohannis to pay official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday

President Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday; he will meet his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko.

The Presidential Administration has announced that Iohannis will hold a press conference at the Henri Coanda airport of Otopeni, near Bucharest, around 8.45am, before leaving.

The President's agenda includes a visit to the Monument to the victims of the Holodomor, the famine induced by abuses of Stalin's soviet regime in 1932-1933 that resulted in millions of deaths. A solemn moment will follow in the Independence Square of Kiev ? the Maidan, centre of the pro-European revolution of 2014.

Poroshenko will then receive Iohannis with official ceremony at the Presidential Administration of Ukraine; they will have private and official talks; members of their delegations will attend the latter, before the presidents make a joint media statement.

The Romanian president will also be the guest of an official lunch offered by his Ukrainian host. He will then discuss with Volodymyr Groysman, the President of the Supreme Rada (the Parliament of Ukraine) and with Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Ukrainian foreign minister. AGERPRES
