World ballet stars to dance in "Don Quixote"

BELGRADE - The International Dance Day will be marked in Belgrade on Wednesday evening with the performance of "Don Quixote", featuring internationally acclaimed ballet dancers Anna Tsygankova, prima ballerina at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, and Matthew Golding, principal with the Royal Ballet in London.

I am pleased to announce that dance enthusiasts will have an opportunity to celebrate the International Dance Day with ballet greats such as Tsygankova and Golding, National Theater's Ballet Director Konstantin Kostyukov told a press conference at the National Theater Museum on Tuesday.

Tsygankova and Golding, who have been partners on and off the stage for five years, have a special bond with "Don Quixote". It was the ballet that brought them together, and the one they performed the most, in many different productions.

I hope that the Belgrade audience will enjoy our first performance here, and that the show will be a cheerful one because it has such special significance for us. It always reminds us of our beginnings. We have danced in many different productions of this ballet, the latest being in London's Covent Garden in January, said Tsygankova.

On Wednesday evening, Tsygankova and Golding will perform together in "Don Quixote", which was restaged in Belgrade's National Theater in 2007 by the famous Russian dancer and choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev.
