Bulgaria Registers Deflation of 0.1 % in September

The latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Wednesday, showed that Bulgaria registered a monthly inflation of negative 0.1 % in September.

Since the beginning of the year Bulgaria recorded a deflation of 0.5 %, while the annual inflation stood at 0.1 %.

The prices of the following goods and services increased in September: food products and soft drinks (1.6%); alcoholic drinks and tobacco products (0.1 %); dwelling and utility bills (0.2 %); healthcare (0.2 %); education (1.9 %).

The prices of the following goods and services decreased in September: clothing and shoes (0.6%); transport (4.6 %); messages (0.1 %); entertainment and culture (5.3%); restaurants and hotels (0.5%).

The prices of housing furniture and domestic appliances retained their level from the previous month.

The prices of the following food products decreased in September: flour; meat from cattle and poultry; minced meat; white cheese; sunflower oil; apples; grapes; peppers; onion; garlic; carrots; salt; vinegar; mineral water; soft drinks and juices; hard liquor and wine.

In the same month the prices of the following food products decreased: rice; bread; pork meat; milk and yoghurt; yellow cheese; eggs; margarine; melon and watermelons; citrus and southern fruits; tomatoes; cucumbers; cabbage; leaf vegetables; potatoes; sugar; fresh fruits and vegetables; coffee; beer and others.

As regards the group of non-food products and services there was decrease in the prices of: shoes; gas and liquid fuels for domestic use; furniture; cookers; boilers; second hand vehicles; diesel; A95H and A98H petrol; passenger air transport; holiday services and tourist trips; short-term accommodation services.
