Hungary Detains Serb Wanted for Kosovo War Crime

Budapest Municipal Court on Tuesday remanded in pre-extradition custody a Serbian national suspected of committing war crimes against civilians during the Kosovo war.

An arrest warrant for the man had been issued by Kosovo authorities, the court said in a statement.

The unnamed man is accused of hitting and raping a pregnant woman in the village of Videje/Vidanje in June 1999, said the court.

The suspect did not consent to a simplified extradition procedure, prompting the court to remand him in custody for 40 days.

The court will assess conditions for the man's extradition once it receives the full extradition request, it said.
