POP TV survey: SDS in the lead, govt rating remains low

Ljubljana – The latest survey conducted by pollster Mediana for POP TV shows that the government enjoys an approval rating of 33%, while 58.8% disapproved of its work and 8.2% were undecided. Among political parties, the ruling Democrats (SDS) command a wide lead.

The SDS remains by far the strongest party despite a 0.9% drop to 18%. The Social Democrats (SD) are the leading opposition party and saw their rating increase by more than two percentage points to 11.7%.

SD is followed by the Left with 8%, down by 1.4 percentage points over the month before, while the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) polled at 7.9%, down half a point. The coalition New Slovenia (NSi) came in at 4.2%, down by 0.7 points.

The top five are followed by the Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) with 2.7%, the Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) with 2.3% and the Pirates with 1.9%. The support for the coalition Modern Centre Party (SMC) remains below one percent.

Undecided voters still remain the largest group, as 19.2% of respondents did not know which party they would vote for if the elections were held on Sunday, up slightly from the month before, while 12.3% would not have voted for any of the existing parties.

After five months, president Borut Pahor is back at the top of the list of most popular politicians, overtaking the now second-placed Health Minister Janez Poklukar. MEP Ljudmila Novak is in third.

The opinion poll was conducted last week among 714 respondents.
