Vucic receives Portuguese ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received a farewell visit from Portuguese Ambassador to Serbia Maria Virginia Mendes da Silva Pina on Friday and thanked her for helping to strengthen the relations between the two countries through her diplomatic work.

The parties discussed further potentials for strengthening the cooperation in all fields of mutual interest, the presidential press office said in a statement.

They pointed out the significance of direct flights between Belgrade and Lisbon as a way for the two peoples to get to know each other better and a way to bring the two cultures closer to each other.

Vucic thanked Portugal for its continued support to Serbia's EU integration process and especially for the fact EU enlargement, including in the Western Balkans, was among the priorities of the Portuguese EU presidency.
