Sinner beats Rune at Turin ATP Finals, sends Djokovic to semis

TURIN - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis, is through to the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in Turin after Italian Jannik Sinner defeated Dane Holger Rune 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in a Green group third round match on Thursday evening.

Previously, title holder Djokovic beat Pole Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-1.

Sinner finished the group stage on top of the group table with three wins and is followed by Djokovic with two wins and one defeat.

Rune is in third position with one win and two defeats, while Hurkacz - a stand-in for injured Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas - is in fourth place with one defeat.

The remaining ties in the Red group are Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) vs Daniil Medvedev (Russia) and Alexander Zverev (Germany) vs Andrey Rublev (Russia).
