Migrants are suffering sometimes-violent illegal pushbacks carried out by special police units at the EU's borders, especially Greece and Croatia, an investigation published on Oct. 6 by media including Germany's Der Spiegel found.

Europol Busts Crime Group Smuggling Afghan Migrants into Western Europe

 

Police say they have dismantled a migrant smuggling ring transporting Afghans to western Europe.

The network is thought to have smuggled around 200 migrants from Romania to France and Germany, according to Europol.

The criminals pushed migrants into the back of large lorries while drivers were sleeping, it said.
