Hojs advocates unity in migration response in Sarajevo

Sarajevo – Interior Minister Aleš Hojs took part in a regional ministerial conference in Sarajevo on Thursday, advocating the strengthening of cooperation and partnership in the Western Balkans region regarding migration management and maintaining security, said the Interior Ministry.

New cases up slightly week-on-week, positivity rate at 44%

Ljubljana – A total of 2,365 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Slovenia on Saturday, which is a slight increase week-on-week, with the positivity rate standing at 44.3%, the National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ) announced. Hospitalisations at intensive care units reached a new record and 21 people died of Covid-19 yesterday.

Slovenia logged 3,344 new coronavirus infections on Monday

Ljubljana – Another 3,344 PCR tests came back positive in Slovenia on Monday as the positivity rate remained high at 44%, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) reported. A dozen Covid-19 patients died. This morning, 874 Covid-19 patients were in hospitals, up 31 from the day before, including 193 in intensive care, three more than yesterday, the government said on Twitter.

Slovenia to roll out biometric identity cards in March

Ljubljana – An agreement on the production of Slovenia’s new biometric identity cards was signed on Monday. The new ID cards will cost 29 euro and contain multiple identity markers and security features. It is expected that Slovenia will start issuing them in March next year.

1,663 new coronavirus infections recorded on Saturday as positivity rate tops 40%

Ljubljana – A total of 1,663 new coronavirus were recorded in Slovenia on Saturday for a positivity rate of 42%, fresh data by the National Institute of Public Health show. The estimated number of active infections rose to 27,686. The 7-day average of new daily cases increased by 23 on the day before to 2,263 as the 14-day incidence per 100,000 people rose by 49 to 1,312.

Delo says DeSUS is done, but that will not affect pensioners

Ljubljana – The newspaper Delo looks at the Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) in Tuesday’s front-page commentary, saying it is going “down the road of no return” and that “its one-way ticket will not take it to parliament” in the next election. Ljubljana – The parliamentary Home Policy Committee voted down late on Friday evening a motion by the centre-left opposition calling for a snap election. The emergency session, which lasted for more than nine hours, discussed the situation in the country. The government finds the motion to be unwarranted.

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,270 coronavirus infections on Friday in what is a near ten-month high. The test positivity rate stood at 30.2%, show fresh official data. Another seven people with Covid died.

Another protest against Covid pass mandate held in Ljubljana

Ljubljana – Protesters against Covid pass mandate and other coronavirus-related restrictions gathered for the sixth consecutive rally in Ljubljana on Wednesday, urging an early election. Ljubljana – A total of 632 new coronavirus cases were confirmed with PCR tests in Slovenia on Saturday, as the epidemic’s curve continues to rise, a trend recorded earlier this week, shows data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The figure compares to only 489 cases recorded on Saturday last week, which makes for a 29% weekly rise.
