TÜPRA? oil refineries see 39 pct jump in profit
Turkish Petroleum Refineries (TÜPRA?) has seen an increase in its net profit by 39 percent in the first nine months of this year, compared with the same period last year, the company said in a statement on Nov. 6.
TÜPRA? said the company's net profit had reached 1.735 billion Turkish Liras ($603 million) in the period, up from 1.246 billion liras ($546 million) in 2014.
Governor raises eyebrows with 'high-level' ceremony to open watering trough
The governor of Edirne has inaugurated a watering trough in the northwestern province, built to provide drinking water to cattle and other livestock, with an official ceremony in Edirne's Azakl? village.
The Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry constructed water troughs for animals in 13 villages across Edirne.
Two more arrested in Turkey's southeast for 'insulting Erdo?an'
Two people in Turkey's southeastern province of ?anl?urfa have been arrested for "insulting" President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an on social media.
The two people, identified only by their initials M.?. and F.T., were detained in ?anl?urfa's Suruç district for sharing posts on social media that included "insults and curses" directed at Erdo?an.
Women's Health Coalition awards Turkish activist
P?nar ?lkkaracan, a leading women's rights activist and researcher based in Turkey, was awarded the prestigious Joan B. Dunlop Prize, presented by the International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC), "for her exceptional record of work in Turkey and globally to promote the human rights of women and girls," on Nov. 3.
Turkey's first Kurdish-language search engine goes online
Turkey's first search engine in the Kurdish language has gone online after five years of technical work, research and development.
The search engine, called "Sekretin" - meaning success in Kurdish - will also have a video-sharing website in the next few months, its manager Serdar Anu?tekin told the state-run Anadolu Agency in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r on Nov. 5.
