No legal problem stands before the presidential candidacy of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the next elections, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has said, vowing he will be reelected in the most strong way.

A decision given by the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) to run alone in the next parliamentary elections will not affect the composition and principles of the six-party Nation Alliance, opposition officials have said.

The newly founded Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) will run independently in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the party chair, Ali Babacan, has said, stressing that his party will stick to its loyalty to the six-party opposition alliance.

Turkey will be able to overcome economic difficulties, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli said, urging people to be patient as the country had previously faced such problems in the past.

The leaders of six opposition parties have outlined their joint proposal for a system change, putting a signature to a first agreement of the opposition alliance with vows to promote democracy, human rights, rule of law and efficient checks and balances.

The leaders of six opposition parties will hold their first meeting to discuss the results of ongoing joint work for the return to the parliamentary system if they come to power in the next elections.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has called for unity to overcome the "hard days" that Turkey has been facing recently.

"We are having hard days. We are going through difficult circumstances together. We will and we must overcome together; we must overcome," he said at the CHP's parliamentary group meeting on Feb. 1.

Meral Akşener, the leader of the opposition İYİ (Good) Party, has become yet another senior politician who has tested positive for COVID-19.

"The PCR test, which I had, came out positive. My husband and I will in quarantine for one week. We are feeling very well," Akşener wrote on Twitter.

The leaders of three opposition parties have held an announced meeting to discuss the future composition of the Nation Alliance, as well as ongoing preparations over the main pillars of the road map for the return of the parliamentary system once they come to power in the next elections.

İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener on Dec. 13 said she believes that the presidential candidate of the Nation Alliance will be elected by the nation in the next elections.

"I do not know when the election will take place, but I believe that the candidate of the Nation Alliance will be the 13th president," Akşener said.
