GIK:Belgrade local elections see 47.35 pct turnout by 6 p.m.

BELGRADE – A total of 47.35 percent of eligible voters went to the polls in the early local elections in Belgrade by 6 p.m. Sunday, the City Electoral Commission (GIK) said at a press conference.

GIK President Zoran Lukic said that it was the last turnout projection for today’s local elections in Belgrade, which are taking place simultaneously with Serbia’s snap parliamentary elections.

Lukic said that turnout was approximately the same in all Belgrade's municipalities regardless of whether they are peripheral or central, and that the total turnout is similar to that of the 2012 elections.

GIK will hold its next meeting at about 11 p.m., when it will come out with the preliminary results of the local elections in the capital and a sufficient number of votes processed, from 20 to 25 polling places.
