Les Tziganes Ivanovitch concert for International Romani Day

BELGRADE - One of the most famous Romani music bands, Les Tziganes Ivanovitch, will appear in Belgrade for the first time in 30 years to mark the International Romani Day with a concert at Sava Centar on April 8.

Les Tziganes Ivanovitch, Odjila and Amaro Del will hold a concert symbolically entitled Djelem Djelem for the International Romani Day, which has been celebrated since 1971, when the firs world congress of the Roma was held in London on April 8.

Members of the three bands will meet the fans before the concert, at the Museum of Ethnography on April 4.

Les Tziganes Ivanovitch haev lived in Paris since the 1960s and performed in cabarets and restaurants, playing Russian and Romani songs.

Odjila gained fame by performing music of the Russian Roma, while Amaro Del comes from Belgrade and performs traditional Romani music from all over the world.

The events related to the International Romani Day will also include an exhibition o photographs portraying the life of the Roma in Serbia, an exhibition of paintings by Romani artists and a series of videos that will inform the viewers about the customs of the Roma.
