US Embassy sends condolences to families of victims of Malaysian Airlines flight

The USA is outraged with the shot down of Malaysian Airlines' Flight 17 and sends heartfelt condolences to all those who lost loved ones aboard the aircraft, shows a press release the US Embassy in Bucharest remitted to AGERPRES on Saturday morning.

"Our thoughts go to the families of the victims and mostly to the family of the Romanian student who was a victim in this tragedy," the US Embassy's statement reads.

The US diplomatic mission brings to mind that "President Obama said it is crucial that a thorough, credible, unrestrained international investigation be carried out as soon as possible."

"We urge all involved factors — Russia, the pro-Russian separatists and Ukraine — to back the immediate ceasefire to ensure the safe and unrestrained access of international investigators to the crash scene and to facilitate the recovery of the remains. The role of international organisations, such as the UN and the OSCE in Ukraine, can be particularly relevant in these efforts and, over the next few hours and days, we shall keep connection with the affected countries and with our partners of these organisations to determine the best approach to follow," the US Embassy statement says.

The document also mentions that, "in the meanwhile, it is essential that no contamination of the evidence occur and that none of the possible evidence be affected," and that "the US remains prepared to supply immediate assistance in any international investigation, including through the resources provided by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FBI."
