NDS leader visits Ohrid at Macedonian president's invitation

BELGRADE - New Democratic Party (NDS) leader and former Serbian president Boris Tadic is paying a visit to Ohrid at the invitation of Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, the opposition NDS has said in a statement.

Tadic delivered a lecture at the School for Young Leaders in Ohrid and attended a session of the Macedonian president's foreign policy council as a guest, the party said on Wednesday.

At the invitation of the Macedonian president, Tadic also delivered a speech at the council's session.

Tadic spoke about the challenges facing the Western Balkans in the context of current global developments, and the foreign policy implications those challenges have for the countries of the region.

The NDS leader also met with political representatives of Macedonia's ethnic Serbs.

Ivanov and Tadic opened the fifth annual School for Young Leaders.

The school is a project started by the Macedonian president that brings together young leaders and prominent individuals in international politics, business, economy and the academic community.

Besides Tadic and Ivanov, the opening ceremony was addressed by Canadian senator Donald Meredith, Xiao Ming, vice president of ZTE Corporation, and Zoran Ilevski, a professor of the Faculty of Law in Skopje.
