Vucic at inauguration, stability more important than vanity

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will attend an inauguration of new Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in the interest of political and regional stability, as he underscored at a press conference.

Vucic said that he made the decision after consultations with President Tomislav Nikolic, so he is travelling to Zagreb with a message of peace and cooperation.

"Political and regional stability is more important than personal and political vanity," the prime minister said.

He underlined that Serbia would like to improve relations with Croatia.

"We really want an improvement in relations in the region, to the benefit of our and Croatian people, and I think that is good and important news," Vucic said.

The prime minister underlined that President Nikolic backed his decision to go to Zagreb, adding that Nikolic cannot possibly go to the inauguration because he has a busy schedule in view of Serbia's Statehood Day celebrations.

Vucic said that he will lay a wreath early on February 15, Serbia's Statehood Day, so that he could then travel to Zagreb to attend the inauguration of Grabar Kitarovic, by which Serbia will demonstrate great responsibility and seriousness.

Vucic noted that in the recent period Serbia has not responded to "at least five or six insults" from Zagreb, not because it is weaker, but because it wants peace, stability and good cooperation.

According to the prime minister, Serbia wants to make progress, resolve its problems, and they are not solved by stirring hatred, but rather with economic measures, the most difficult ones, for which we gained worldwide approval.
