Serbs demand constitution of ZSO in Kosovo-Metohija

GRACANICA - Councillors from municipalities with Serb majority population in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) adopted on Wednesday a decision on a unified political action, protection of rights and realisation of interests of Serbs through the constitution of the Community of Serb municipalities (ZSO).

According to a release issued by the Office for KiM, councillors from municipalities with Serb majority voiced a request during the meeting wherein they asked for respect of constitutional and legal provisions concerning the number of Serbs in institutions and public enterprises on all levels, as well as adequate representation of Serbs in municipalities where Serbs do not constitute majority population.

In the conclusions, Serbs from KiM insist on the principle according to which their presentation in institutions on all levels and selection of Serb staff is in exclusive jurisdiction of appointed Serb political representatives.

The councillors also called for protection of property and rights of the Serbian Orthodox Church and noted that new laws on issues of importance for the Serb community should be adopted only with the consent of appointed Serb representatives.
