Nine plays in competitive selection at Sterijino pozorje

NOVI SAD - A total of 16 drama pieces will be performed at the upcoming 60th Sterijino pozorje, with nine plays in the competitive selection and another three in the international programme Circles, the theatre institution has announced.

The festival's selector Marina Milivojevic Madjarev has picked nine plays for the national drama and theatre selection.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Madjarev said that there have been as many as 27 premieres of Serbian dramas over the past year.

She noted that more than half of the plays entered for the festival are based on Serbian dramas.

The 60th anniversary festival will be held in Novi Sad from May 26 through June 3.

The non-competitive programme, titled How Others See Us, will feature Dusan Kovacevic's play Balkan Spy, directed by Tsuyoshi Sugiyama and performed by Tokyo-based theatre company A La Place, and Nenad Prokic's Finger Trigger Bullet Gun, directed by James Yarker and performed by Birmingham's Stan's Cafe.
