Schenz: Serbia is interesting to Austrian companies

VIENNA - Serbia is very interesting for Austrian companies, Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chambers Richard Schenz said before the start of the business forum Serbia in Vienna 2015 on Tuesday.

He told Tanjug he was glad Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic was taking part in the forum together with a large business delegation.

The Austrian economy has always sought good relations with Serbia, even though politically that perhaps has not been the case in the past, he pointed out.

Schenz stated he would be pleased to see Serbia become a member of the EU, and that it would make it possible to do even more than so far, adding that EUR 3 billion had been invested in Serbia from Austria.

Trade between the two countries is also good, at EUR 850 million, but it can be improved further, he remarked.

When it comes to large numbers of business owners in Austria who have Serbian origins, he said that they were important for Austria's economy.
