Indictment against former minister Jasna Matic confirmed

BELGRADE - The organised crime department of the Belgrade district court has confirmed the indictment against former minister of telecommunications Jasna Matic and three of her associates suspected of illegal activities related to Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), which cost the national budget around RSD 120 million.

Matic and former heads of SIEPA Bozidar Laganin, Vesna Peric and Bojan Jankovic are accused of abusing their office, for which the punishment is 2-12 years in prison, the court stated.

An investigation was conducted against Matic and the others on suspicion that they signed contracts on non-existing services that cost the government around RSD 120 million, gaining RSD 90 million in illegal profits for themselves and other persons.

Matic and the others were arrested on March 26, 2014, and released on April 15 to await their trial.

Matic, as a member of the party G17 Plus, was the minister of telecommunications in the government led by Mirko Cvetkovic.
