Popovic, Chepurin: Economic cooperation sees growth

BELGRADE - The economic cooperation between Serbia and Russia sees a stable growth year after year, but it is still far from reaching the potential provided by the strategic agreements signed by the two countries, leader of the opposition Serbian People's Party (SNP) Nenad Popovic and Russia's Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin said on Friday.

It is important for Serbia not to impose sanctions against Russia at any cost, despite the pressure of some western countries, stressed Popovic, adding that it is in Serbia's interest to boost the economic cooperation with Russia and to increase its agricultural and food exports to that country.

For that reason, the SNP launched a petition against imposing sanctions against Russia, said Popovic.

Popovic and Chepurin agreed that the two countries should strive to promote mutual cooperation, not only in economy, but also in culture, science and spirituality, the SNP's release states.
