Dean Thompson: USA and Romania will cooperate to promote freedom and defence against threats

US Embassy to Romania Charge d'Affaires Dean Thompson on Tuesday said that the United States will continue to cooperate with Romania in order to promote freedom and defence against regional and global threats.

He also spoke of the Strategic Partnership of the US with Romania, which has its foundations in 1997, during the Clinton Administration, reiterated in 2011 through the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century.

Many people think that it is built on a military foundation, but we, those who work on this relation day by day, know that it entails something much more profound, it entails cooperation in the law enforcement, educational, cultural fields, inter-human relations and an important growth of economic and trade relations, Dean Thompson underscored.

The Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Bucharest brought to mind that the core of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries consists of the trans-Atlantic values that both the United States and Romania share.
