FYROM to fence off its borders with Greece!

The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia are preparing to build a wire fence along sections of the country’s borders so as to ensure a slower passage of migrants from FYROM to western Europe. FYROM President Gjorge Ivanov ordered the building of barricades and fences “in places where needed”. Lying on the so-called Balkan route, FYROM is used by aslum seekers from the Middle East who leave Greece en route to Hungary or Slovenia, two members of the borderless Schengen zone.

FYROM’s National Security Council says that the barricades and fences are a last-resort measure to be enforced only if other countries restrict to immigration flow. The same council said that the fences doesn’t mean that the FYROM is planning to close its borders to asulum seekers as it plans ot only direct the flow of migrants to legitimate points of entry and regulate the migrant flow.
