Djuric: Attempt to arrest me failed thanks to people

GRACANICA - The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Marko Djuric, has told reporters a gross and illegal attempt to arrest him and deport him from Kosovo had been made in Gracanica Wednesday night.

The Kosovo Police halted a vehicle carrying Djuric, demanding that he leave Kosovo, only to tell him about an hour later he would be allowed to continue a visit according to a protocol, Tanjug's reporter on the ground said.

Djuric said a spontaneous gathering and the unity of local Serbs had thwarted what he called a disgraceful attempt by the Kosovo Police.

"We demonstrated that not even the Kosovo Police, which is never there to protect the Serbs and the Serbian holy sites, can act in any way it wants to," Djuric said.
