Solution for Tanjug to be in line with European practices

BELGRADE - Responding to the informal Group for Media Freedom, which had demanded that the Tanjug News Agency cease operations, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said the best solution was being sought for the national news agency that would fulfil the public interest of the citizens to the largest extent.

In the response, published on the website of the Serbian government late Thursday, Brnabic recalled that most European countries had their national news agencies and that Serbia, too - in line with the best European practices - would solve the issue of the national news agency and regulate the status of Tanjug to ensure equal working conditions and treatment to all participants in the market.
