PM Dancila meets UK Ambassador to Romania Noble and tackles issue of UK's withdrawal from EU

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila met on Tuesday with Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Romania Andrew Noble, context in which the issue of UK's withdrawal from the EU was especially addressed, especially in view of the Presidency of the EU Council, which is currently exercised by Romania.

According to a release of the Government, the discussion highlighted the very good stage of the strategic relation between Romania and the UK. Also reviewed was the common role in Europe's security and defence, both inside NATO and within the political dialogue between the two countries, as well as the increasingly more tight economic and social ties.

The Romanian PM reiterated the importance that Romania pays to the necessity to protect the rights of the Romanian citizens residing in the UK and provided the guarantee that Romania will carry out all the internal demarches so that the rights of the British citizens in Romania be observed, regardless of the scenario that will materialise in the upcoming period.

At the same time, it was underscored that the UK's withdrawal from the EU will necessarily impose the recalibration of the Strategic Partnership, last time revised in 2011. According to the Gov't release, it was voiced the confidence that the revised Strategic Partnership will become the expression of a new strengthened and comprehensive cooperation stage.
