Supreme Administrative Court Confirmed the Ban and Fines for Uber in Bulgaria

A three-member panel of the Supreme Administrative Court upheld the decision of the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC), which banned Uber's business in Bulgaria and a fine of 200,000 levs was imposed on the two companies Uber B.V and Rasier Opportunities B.V.

In his complaint, the technology company claimed that the CPC's decision was null and void, and the commission had no right to investigate the business or sanction companies because they are Dutch "information society service providers."

The company continues to claim that it is not a carrier and does not organize transport, but gathers people who want to share travel. And that the UberX service is not a transport service and is not "even roughly similar to a taxi service." The ban on the CPC came precisely on charges of providing an illegal taxi service. Uber stepped in Bulgaria in early December 2014, and the CPC's decision to ban the business came in mid-2015.
