Business sentiment deteriorates further in November

Ljubljana – Business sentiment in Slovenia deteriorated further in November as additional Covid-19 lockdown measures kicked in, with the relevant indicator dropping to -13.8 percentage points, or 6.8 points lower than in October and 16 points lower year-on-year.

All sub-indicators were down on the monthly basis in November, in particular those measuring confidence in the services sector (-4 points) and confidence among consumers (-1.1 points).

The remaining sub-indicators (confidence in manufacturing, retail and construction) were each down by less than one percentage point, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

November is the second month in a row in which business sentiment in Slovenia deteriorated after improving for five consecutive months.

Confidence in the services sector was also down the most year-on-year (-10.9 points), followed by confidence among consumers (-4.4 points), retail (-0.9 points) and constriction (-0.6 points).

On the other hand, the impact of the sub-indicator measuring confidence in manufacturing was positive, as it increased by 0.7 percentage points compared to November 2019.
