POP TV poll shows NSi losing most ground among parties

Ljubljana – Most parliamentary parties have lost ground in the latest poll commissioned by the commercial broadcaster POP TV as the ruling Democratic Party (SDS) posted its worst showing this year and its coalition partner New Slovenia (NSi) slipped back the most.

The SDS remains in the lead at 15%, down 1.1 percentage points from a month ago, having lost almost two points the month before.

The opposition Social Democrats (SD) in second shed even more, as much as 1.5 points this time to 9.6%, after they slipped back 0.6 points the previous month.

The Left lost as much as it gained the month before to poll at 8%, while the fellow opposition Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) broke off the negative trend seen for months by recovering 1.4 points to 7%.

The opposition Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) gained a further 1.1 points on top of the 1.4 points the month before to poll at 5.2%.

Meanwhile, the coalition New Slovenia (NSi) lost 1.7 points, by 0.3 points more of what it gained the month before, and is now on 3.9%.

The Pensioners Party (DeSUS) and the coalition Modern Centre Party (SMC) trail non-parliamentary parties at 1% and 0.4%, respectively.

The proportion of the undecided respondents was up almost three points to 26.1% with a further 10.7% saying they would not vote for any of the existing parties and a further 3.4% would not answer the question.

The voter approval rating for the government rose marginally as the share of supporters was up by 1.3 points to 28.8% and the share of opponents dropped by 0.8 points to 63.1%.

President Borut Pahor returned to the top of the popularity ranking of politicians to unseat NSi MEP Ljudmila Novak.

Speaker Igor Zorčič and Health Minister Janez Poklukar trail in third and fourth, as Foreign Minister Anže Logar climbed to 5th from 9th.

The poll was conducted by Mediana among 702 respondents.
