PM discusses Middle East crisis with Egyptian president

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis voiced his growing concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and tension on the Lebanon-Israel border to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during a phone conversation on Wednesday to congratulate him on his re-election.

Mitsotakis underlined that Greece supports Egypt's efforts for the safe and prompt delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population in Gaza, while expressing his appreciation for Cairo's constructive attitude towards resolving the crisis in the Middle East.

They also discussed Egypt-EU relations, the strengthening of which Greece supports, as Egypt, Mitsotakis noted, is a regional pillar of stability.
