Gov’t express concern over ICC arrest warrant bid for Netanyahu

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis expressed Athens' concern over the ICC prosecutor's arrest warrant bid for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a press brief, on Thursday. 

According to Marinakis, the Greek government questions whether this decision serves conflict resolution efforts in the Middle East.

"It troubles us and makes us wonder how such a decision could help normalize the situation in the Middle East," responded Marinakis when asked to comment on the ICC prosecutor's bid. 

Regarding the recognition of a Palestinian state, Marinakis stated that Greece is committed to the Security Council resolution for a two state solution. He added that the immediate priorities are the release of the hostages and the end of hostilities. 

Several Greek opposition parties have recently called on the government to recognize a Palestinian state.
