Capitol Police officers sue Trump, allies over insurrection

U.S. Capitol Police officers who were attacked and beaten during the Capitol riot filed a lawsuit on Aug. 26 against former President Donald Trump, his allies and members of far-right extremist groups, accusing them of intentionally sending a violent mob on Jan. 6 to disrupt the congressional certification of the election.

Trump's Facebook, Instagram accounts to remain suspended until 2023

Facebook suspended former U.S. President Donald Trump from its platform and his Instagram account until Jan. 7, 2023, saying they will be "only reinstated if conditions permit."

On May 5, the company's Oversight Board upheld Facebook's suspension of Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts because of his alleged role in riots at the Capitol building on Jan. 6.

US President Biden Imposes more Sanctions on China

US President Joe Biden is set to ban Americans from investing in dozens of Chinese tech and defence firms with alleged military ties.

The new executive order will come into effect on 2 August, hitting 59 firms including communications giant Huawei. The list of firms will be updated on a rolling basis.

It expands an order previously issued by former President Donald Trump.
