New exhibition opens at National Museum

BELGRADE - An exhibition titled “Govor Krsta” (The Speech of the Cross) will open at the National Museum in Belgrade on Thursday, offering visitors an insight into the multi-layered symbolic meanings associated with the cross.

The exhibition will present the crosses that were made in the period from the Early Middle Ages to 19th century, thus offering a chronological insight into the notion of continuity when it comes to Orthodox Christianity, the National Museum said.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see how the cross is presented in various icons, copies of frescoes, but also graphic works by Serbian and foreign authors.

This exhibition, authored by senior curator Natasa Cerovic, will run through August 31.
