Belgrade Red Cross gets van for humanitarian aid transport

BELGRADE - ProCredit Bank from Belgrade donated on Thursday a cargo van to Red Cross Belgrade that will be used to transport humanitarian aid to the flooded areas.

Red Cross Belgrade Secretary Ivana Marisavljevic Dasic thanked the donor and added that the vehicle's first destination would be Obrenovac, where it will deliver furniture donated by the company Jugodrvo to 50 families.

The latest survey indicates that there are 1,164 families with a total of 4,000 members in Obrenovac who need urgent assistance, because they were directly hit by the floods and have no source of income, so all forms of aid are delivered to them first.

Head of the ProCredit Bank's acquisition sector Ana Milic handed over the van and stressed that the bank had a joint regional fund of EUR 600,000 for aid to the flooded areas, and that EUR 475,000 of that sum was meant for Serbia.

This is an initiative dubbed Support for Neighbours, which includes both financial and humanitarian aid in the form of llivestock feed, disinfectants, personal hygiene products, vehicles, appliances and construction material, she explained.

The van is the third vehicle ProCredit Bank has donated since the floods in May. The first one went to a hospital in Silajnac and the second to one in Smederevska Palanka.
