Public administration minister meets with German delegation

BELGRADE - Serbia's Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovicki has met with a delegation from Germany, led by Christiane Bogemann-Hagedorn of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, to discuss ways to improve cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting in Belgrade on Thursday, the two officials pointed out that a joint workshop would be organized in 2015 to look into ways to improve the business climate in Serbia, with special emphasis on the local level of government, for employees in the public administration, representatives of civil society, regional development agencies and small and medium-sized enterprises, the Serbian ministry said in a release.

Udovicki said that the business climate would also be improved through public administration reform and better distribution of tasks at all levels of government, which is something that falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government.

The government's reform-oriented efforts will be better realized thanks to the coordination of strategic planning through the newly set-up republic secretariat for public policy, she said.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the German government-owned KfW Development Bank and the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ), the release said.
