Ministers Dacic, Wang discuss Serbia-China cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbia attaches great importance to the cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

This particularly applies to economic cooperation, as Serbia is interested in expanding this type of cooperation further and boosting Chinese investments in Serbia, Dacic said late Wednesday.

Dacic said that he is pleased that Serbia has hosted a meeting between the prime ministers of China and Central and Eastern European countries, noting that it is a clear indicator of the significance of the strategic partnership between China and Serbia, and that it contributes to its further strengthening.

Dacic said that, by hosting the summit, Serbia has reaffirmed its increasingly significant role in the region, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Dacic and Wang agreed that the relations between Serbia and China are characterised by a traditional friendship, deep mutual trust and understanding, as well as by mutual support on the most important issues related to their national interests.

Praising Serbia for the successful organisation of the summit, Minister Wang said that he is pleased with the signing of important agreements as part of the cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries.

Minister Wang noted that China attaches special importance to strengthening the cooperation with Serbia in all areas.
