Romania supports viable alternative energy route at Black Sea

Romania supports the promotion of an active political, commercial agenda in the Caspian Sea region for the development of a viable alternative route at the Black Sea, accomplished through projects such as AGRI-LNG, on Thursday said in Brussels the secretary of state with the Energy, SMEs and Business Milieu ministry, Bogdan Badea.

The official stated the above-mentioned at the debates of the Council of the European Union (Transports, Telecommunications and Energy) focusing on the accomplishment of the Energy Union.

Bogdan Badea has presented the EU Council's officials the stance of support of our country regarding the energy union project, hailing at the same time the publication by the European Commission of the Framework Strategy, on February 25, 2015. In the context, the secretary of state has highlighted that the strengthening of the energy security should be top priority of the EU, in this respect being necessary a greater focus upon the capitalisation of the potential of our own energy resources (onshore, offshore) and upon enhancement of the efforts made to diversify supply sources.

He also spotlighted the potential of the resources of the Black Sea regarding the regional security's strengthening and asked for a bigger involvement of the EU in supporting the development of these projects, in particular in the vulnerable regions, such as Central and South-Eastern Europe.

The Romanian official reiterated Romania's interest for nuclear power and for the role the latter could have in the energy mix of each state and moreover in attaining the decarbonisation targets of the EU. AGERPRES
