Serbian MPs talk with Kazakh delegation

BELGRADE - Serbia's MPs and Kazakhstan's state delegation discussed on Thursday opportunities for improving comprehensive relations between the two countries even further, especially at economic level.

The Kazakh delegation invited Serbian parliamentarians to engage as observers in the presidential election scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan on April 26.

As the Serbian parliament said in a statement, head of the Serbian parliament's delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Dijana Vukomanovic and members of the parliamentary group of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), the leading party of the ruling coalition, Dragomir Karic and Milanka Karic, talked with Kazakh Ambassador Nurbah Rustemov, accredited to Serbia on a non-residential basis, and Kazakhstan's state delegation that are on a visit to Serbia.

The officials underlined the importance of cooperation of parliamentarians, between the two parliaments and their delegations to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Council of Europe and other forms of multilateral cooperation of parliamentarians.

Vukomanovic said that this year, during which Serbia is holding the OSCE Chairmanship, offers a great opportunity for improving and deepening Serbia-Kazakhstan cooperation.
"Although our two states are located far away from each other, we are facing the same challenges of preserving peace, democracy and prosperity of citizens in the Eurasian region," the Serbian parliament cited Vukomanovic as saying.

The Kazakh ambassador informed the Serbian MPs about the political situation in his country, saying that it is to hold the snap presidential election on April 26, and invited them to come as observers.
