Kolubara mines worker dies in accident

BELGRADE -- An accident in the Kolubara strip coal mine, southwest of Belgrade, on Thursday left a worker dead, the company, RB Kolubara, has announced.

The 45-year-old, B.A., died in the Tamnava-West Field mine where he was working on assembling machines.

The accident occurred at around 08:45 CET when a portion of a steel structure fell on the man, killing him instantly.

Police and RB Kolubara's director and health and safety services were at the scene, awaiting the arrival of mining inspectors.

The company said that the cause of the accident would be known once the investigation has been completed.
