Bulgaria Intelligence Following Macedonia Events, PM Says

Intelligence services in Bulgaria are closely following developments in neighboring Macedonia, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said.

He has also made an apparent reference to his own resignation in 2013 after tensions were accumulated in society with large-scale protests rocking the country.

Commenting on the attack in Kumanovo which as of 14:20 of Sunday has left 8 police officers dead, Borisov explained they had fallen victim to dissension and problems in Bulgaria's western neighbor.

"I hope they will take [things] in their hands and [start to] regulate their state. I have given an example about what happens if there is mistrust for some or other reason, or interference in a government, then the people put their trust back on their own," Focus News Agency quotes him as saying.

In February 2013, Borisov stepped down amid street demonstrations over plummeting living standards.
