EC says talks in Athens over (vid)

European Commission President spokesperson Annika Breidthardt said the agreement between Greece and the EU institutions will be discussed between the members of the European Financial Committee (EFC) via a new teleconference on Wednesday. As she explained the EFC members were briefed orally on the document during Tuesday’s teleconference, while on Wednesday’s meeting they will have the opportunity to evaluate the actual written text. She added that the final details had been ironed out between Greece and the Quartet, meaning that negotiations in Athens have concluded. Breidthardt underlined that there was a passage in the final document concerning the social implications of the new deal. She confirmed that European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker contacted French President Francois Holland and German Chancellor Angela Merkel via phone on the Greek issue.
