Interpol suspends Kosovo's application for membership

BALI - The Interpol General Assembly has suspended applications for membership, including from Kosovo, pending completion of a study.

While the study is being carried out, all current and future applications for membership including those from Kosovo, the State of Palestine and the Solomon Islands have been suspended, Interpol said in a statement.

The resolution follows an Executive Committee decision that "a clear and transparent process with a defined set of criteria for membership of Interpol was required."

The General Assembly has endorsed the appointment of an adviser to conduct a study and make recommendations on the process for membership.
