PM notes importance of hope on Easter, urges election participation

Ljubljana – In his Easter message, Prime Minister Janez Janša noted the importance of hope and unity of the nation, and expressed the wish that Christians show their responsibility by participating in the 24 April general election and choose “true leaders”.

“The hope that Easter brings touches open hearts again and again. We draw strength from the hope of Easter, and in it we find support in difficult tests,” Janša was quoted in Sunday’s release from the prime minister’s office.

He said that last year had taught Slovenians that difficult times could also be an opportunity for a new beginning, adding that the steepest paths could be overcome only if one believed they can.

“It has been confirmed again that we as a nation are strong and victorious if we are united and connected,” Janša said.

As for the upcoming general election, he said that it would not be as fateful as the independence was, but that it would nevertheless be no less important for Slovenia’s future.

This time, too, it will be about Slovenia, the prime minister said, calling on “Christians to express their responsibility to the homeland by going to the election and choose true leaders”

According to Janša, these are leaders who will “know how to live and work for others, who care about the well-being of others and the community on a daily basis.”
