Serbia invites Chinese Sinomah to build industrial zone

BELGRADE – Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation, Construction and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic has called on one of biggest Chinese energy corporations, Sinomah, to start the Stublenica industrial zone project on the territory of the municipality of Ub, 55 kilometers south of Belgrade.

Mihajlovic expressed satisfaction that the corporation was interested in the project, and that a memorandum of understanding had been signed with the municipality of Ub, the ministry's website has said.

A few days ago, the minister welcomed a delegation of the Chinese corporation to discuss the Business Zone Stublenica project, participation of the corporation in efforts to repair damage done to economic facilities after the May flooding and other projects that both sides are interested in.

The Serbian government will provide every type of support and assistance within its capabilities, said the minister.

The Chinese corporation’s officials expressed interest in the project becoming a state-level project to be dealt with by a mixed Chinese-Serbian committee.

The Chinese partners expressed their desire to participate in the emergency rehabilitation of power plants damaged by the floods.

The participants of the meeting, attended also by Darko Glisic as representative of the Ub municipality, agreed to intensify contacts regarding projects, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy.
