Conference on climate changes, green economy Thursday

BELGRADE - An international conference dubbed "Climate changes and green economy" will be held in Belgrade on Thursday bringing together numerous ministers, NGOs and businessmen.

"It has never been more apparent that climate changes are reality," said Vuk Jeremic, president of the Center for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (CIRSD).

"We are organizing this conference because climate changes might be the most important issue in the international relations. The presidents of China and the U.S. paid most attention to this matter at their recent meeting," Jeremic said announcing the conference on Belgrade TV B92.

Serbia's former foreign minister underlined that the Balkan countries will have an opportunity to get involved in the talks on climate changes and green economy provided they understand all aspects of this problem.

The fight against climate changes is not just a fight for repair of the flooded areas, Jeremic said, adding that it is important to find a way to join the international development strategy.

The first panel will be addressed by Serbian Minister of Agriculture Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic, Albanian Minister of Environment Lefter Koka, Montenegrin Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenovic and professor Jeffrey Sachs.

The business panel will engage representatives of big companies in the country and the region and foreign guests.
