Vucic, Szijjarto: Serbia-Hungary relations very good

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade on Thursday with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, and the two officials agreed that the relations between the two countries are very good and that the Hungarian and Serb national minorities in Serbia and Hungary, respectively, are also contributing to this.

They said that bilateral economic cooperation is making significant progress and that trade has reached a record level.

Also discussed at the meeting was the upcoming summit of China and 16 central and eastern European states, to be held in Belgrade in December.

They also agreed that Serbia and Hungary join forces in negotiations with Chinese partners on building a high-speed railway line from Belgrade to Budapest, and also discussed ways of funding the project so as to ensure that it is completed by the summer of 2017, the Serbian government's press office said in a statement.

Vucic and Szijjarto also assessed the advantages of building the South Stream gas pipeline, in particular with respect to energy stability in this part of Europe.
