Romanian Army to dispatch 895 troops, IntMin 1,183 forces to missions outside country next year

The Romanian Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) at its meeting on Tuesday approved that the Army should dispatch 895 troops to missions and operations outside the Romanian territory next year, while the Interior Ministry will participate 1,183 military and policemen in missions sponsored by NATO, EU, OSCE and the United Nations.

As compared to 2014, the Army is dispatching by 416 less military, while the Interior Ministry is sending by 392 more, the Presidential Administration said in a release.

It added the main effort will be represented by Romania's participating forces and means in NATO mission in Afghanistan — Resolute Support Mission (RSM) — while at the same time maintaining the participation in NATO KFOR and EU ALTHEA operations in the Balkans.

"The Council approved beefing up the forces and means of the Romanian Army in 2015 by up to 450 military, and a maximum cap of 650 military has been set for this mission", the release announced.

Another topic on the CSAT agenda was the analysis of the activities relating the implementation of the international documents for weapons control, building up confidence and security.AGERPRES
