Varoufakis to meet Lagarde ahead of the extraordinary Eurogroup meeting

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis will reportedly meet with Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund immediately after his arrival in Brussels, where the extraordinary meeting of the Eurogroup takes place this evening.

According to information, the meeting will be of an introductory nature and will also be attended by Poul M. Thomsen, the Director of IMF's European Department and Elena Panaritis, Special advisor to the Greek Finance Minister.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the IMF director is also expected to make a statement from Brussels at 6 pm (Athens time).

This was announced, via Twitter, by Financial Times reporter Peter Spiegel, who noted, however, that Lagarde's statements may not be about Greece, but about the crisis in Ukraine.
